Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend was one of the best I have had in awhile.  I had fun, relaxed, got stuff done and just really was able to enjoy life.

Friday we had a track meet so I spent the evening with Dare.  He got 2nd in High Jump and ran a great mile (5:35) and 4×800 relay.  The team placed 3rd overall and we froze!  As soon as the sun started getting lower the wind seemed to get stronger.  Little did I know it until we were leaving that I had an extra jacket in my vehicle…duh!  🙂

Waiting around

Saturday I started off the morning with a 5k…I will have the recap up tomorrow!!  But just to throw it out there….it was phenomenal!! IMG_4177

As soon as I got home we got around and Kevin and I took the kids out to the woods to do a little mushroom hunting.  They found a few (I neglected to take a photo) and played around.  The bag they were carrying the mushrooms in got snagged on something and they lost them.  😦  We will go back out after we get back from Georgia.  Even with losing the mushrooms, we were all able to really enjoy our time together!

Saturday night we went to dinner with Kevins grandparents and enjoyed the conversation and filling our stomachs.  By the time we were all back at the house, Kevin and I had made the decision of having a fire!  KK then made her executive decision to have s’mores.  So I ran to the store and bought the necessary items while Kevin got the fire pit ready.  Our evening was then watching them eat their gooey treats while we each had a beer.  It really couldn’t have been a much better day.IMG_4174

Sunday, I got in my final “long run” before heading to Georgia on Wednesday.  I wanted 10 miles but only got in 8.61.  I think between racing Saturday and not eating a whole lot before I ran, my body just wasn’t having it.  I felt pretty drained pretty quickly.  It was also 75 and sunny with no shade while I ran also.  At about mile 7 my legs were just over it, so I decided to just head back to the house and call it quits.  I would rather cut a run short than push and not be ready on race day.

When I got back to the house, Kevin had the grill going, chicken/brats ready, and a beer in hand.  So we all played around and enjoyed our evening.  It was really the best!  🙂  Love that the weather is finally nice enough to be back outside and loving it!

How was your weekend?  Did you get to spend time outside?

I am big mushroom fan and these kind are only around for a short time in the spring! I love food so I don’t mind having to go get it! 🙂
